KRITFC alongside ONC and USFWS has produced harvest estimates following the Federal set net opportunities on June 2 and June 5, 2021. These estimates are created using data from the CBHM program run by KRITFC and BSFA; interviews at the Bethel boat harbor and Bethel area fish camps conducted by the ONC fisheries team; and aerial boat counts led by USFWS. Read more about how these estimates are produced here.
In summary:
June 2: 23 interviews were conducted and 29 set nets and 2 drift nets were counted. An estimated total of 30 salmon were harvested, and all of those were king salmon. Read the full harvest estimate here.
June 5: 38 interviews were conducted and 91 set nets were counted. An estimated total of 380 salmon were harvested: 310 king salmon, 20 chum salmon, and 50 sockeye salmon. Read the full harvest estimate here.
Note that this data comes from fishers from Tuntutuliak to Akiak and does not fully encompass the full Kuskokwim River.
