Subsistence Section 5 (From the Holitna River mouth to the headwaters of the Kuskokwim River):
The household subsistence permit is no longer required to subsistence fish for any fish in Subsistence Section 5. Communities in Section 5 are Stony River, Lime Village, Takotna, McGrath, Nikolai, and Telida.
Subsistence fishing with 6-inch or less mesh gillnets (set or drift), not to exceed 25 fathoms in length and 45 meshes in depth, will be open from 4:55 p.m., Wednesday, June 16 until further notice. Chinook salmon may be retained if caught with gillnets (set or drift), fish wheels, dip nets, beach seines, and hook and line gear until further notice in Subsistence Section 5 beginning 4:55 p.m., Wednesday, June 16 until further notice.
This action was proposed and supported by the Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Group at the recent public meeting on June 16, 2021.
